Strange Days
What do I see at the turn of the century? A nation transfixed by “reality TV” Place the players in positions of enemy Whatever happened to empathy? Survival of the fittest, like Lord of the Flies Gone are values like compromise We teach our children what’s on the screen Embedded in their heads, they remember what they’ve seen Now I’m not advocating censorship Just put some thought behind it when you let the ink drip These days are strange and new But change will get us through The tunnel of life is a journey through the dark To find the way, follow your heart If he can’t speak, he doesn’t speak for us Strong defeat the weak when he loses all our trust You will find a situation of disgust The man who speaks represents us When times change, we forget how he came Systems deranged, rely on fame When history sets the record straight How I just hope it won’t be too late Now I’m not calling for an overthrow But just imagine what we don’t know Copyright 2001 Beau Phillips From Letras Mania
